Forbidden Corner Fright Night Review 2024

OUR SLASHER REVIEW

Forbidden Corner’s 2024 Fright Night event in Leyburn offers a thrilling Halloween experience with a set pathway through its labyrinth, featuring a mix of interactive actors and jump scares. Characters range from dolls to pirates, all adding to the terrifying atmosphere. The event relies on well-timed scares, with highlights including a pirate jumping from a hedge and a girl pretending to be a mannequin. Though not cheap, it’s a highly enjoyable and effective scare event, especially impressive for a first-time offering.

Top Tips - Definitely book a later time slot as its more atmospheric when its dark

Things that Bite - It is a bit expensive

Value for money - Despite it being expensive, i'd say its worth the money

Scare Rating - 4.5/5

Do we recommend - Hell Yes

OUR STALKER REVIEW

A new event for 2024, Forbidden Corner has opened its doors for a special Fright Nights event. Located in Leyburn, this labyrinth attraction is full of secret passageways, lush landscaping and loads of interactivity during the day so we were excited to see how this would come to play during a scare event.

We arrived and were greeted by a hostess who was rude and crude and set the tone perfectly for the journey ahead. What we didn’t realise at the time, and only realised after we had ventured through was that she was dropping hints about the characters we would encounter. Normally at Forbidden Corner you can wander around at your own pace but during their Halloween event you are given a set pathway to follow that went through many of its best areas.

The actors we met throughout the experience were brilliant. Some were there to scare, some to interact. There was a fabulous mix of personalities and characters, from a doll, to a clown, to pirates, they had something for all tastes and none of it really felt out of place except for the clown in the mausoleum. All the actors we came across did an amazing job. From the slow burn build up of characters stalking you and running at you, to those who terrorised you with a chainsaw, they all did a fantastic job and should be really proud of the work they did. Even if the clown didn’t suit the mausoleum, he still worked the space well, even splitting us up.

The event relies heavily on jump scares and honestly we couldn’t get enough of them. They were pretty much constant throughout the event. They use a few distraction scares too that were brilliantly timed. I do have to say that there were two scares that really stand out for me just because they got me down to my core. The first being the pirate who hid in the darkness of a hedge and jumped out as I walked right past him causing me to swear quite loudly to which he retorted “even pirates don’t swear like that”. The second was a girl who had managed to position herself in a way that made her look like a cheaply posed mannequin bending over a sign backwards who suddenly came to life screaming. It’s been a while since a scare has got me actually jumping backwards in terror and she got me. In completely honest, I got more scares here than many of the other places we visited this year!

For a first time at hosting a scare event, Forbidden Corner have absolutely nailed their first year. It was terrifying and I wanted to go round again immediately. It’s not the cheapest event out there but it’s one that I really enjoyed and hope that other people will go a visit.
